If your pet may be poisoned, call now
Contact your veterinarian, an emergency veterinary hospital, or an animal poison control center right away. ASPCA Animal Poison Control: (888) 426-4435. Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661. Both are open 24 hours a day and may charge a consultation fee. Neither is operated by PetPoisonCalc.
Not veterinary advice
All content on PetPoisonCalc, including calculators, results, guides, checklists and tables, is general educational information. It is not veterinary advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment recommendation. PetPoisonCalc is not a veterinarian, does not examine your pet, and does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship.
Do not induce vomiting or give any medicine or home remedy unless a veterinarian or poison control tells you to.
What the calculators can and cannot do
Each calculator compares the amount and body weight you enter with thresholds from published veterinary sources, which are listed on each calculator page. Results are estimates only. They can be wrong or incomplete because of incorrect inputs, product differences, mislabeled or unknown ingredient amounts, combined exposures, and the fact that individual animals vary.
A lower urgency result never means your pet is safe. Some poisons cause no signs for hours or days. Any result, including the lowest urgency level, should be followed by a call to your veterinarian or poison control.
Sources and review
Content is researched and written by PetPoisonCalc using published veterinary and toxicology references. It has not been reviewed by a veterinarian unless a page clearly says so. Information can become out of date, and we welcome corrections at our contact page.
